Even More: Here Comes Russia and the Marussia B2

Add to the "don't blink or you'll miss it", now Russia is joining the party as well. The irony of this is that in the best sports cars of the world series we are between Europe and Asia, thanks to a busy week last week and all the breaking news from Frankfurt the next article to be titled "Japan - Where Technology and Practicality Meet" has been on hold, mostly because Japan is the last in the line of major countries with contributions to the world of top sports cars and after that the fun will really begin with "news you can use" and how to truly apply what we offer here at best sports cars blog.

Without further ado and as with Canada's offering, this is brought to you by the good people of Autoblog, the first unofficial shots of Russia's first super-car, something that looks to rivals our very own SSC Ultimate Aero and Saleen S7:

Marussia B2 -- Click above for image gallery

Marussia released two teasers of its new car, the not-so imaginatively-named B2, last week. What the company neglected to do before that was cover up its cars while they were being transported through Moscow. Someone took pictures of them, apparently not even knowing what they were (the blue one is likely the B2, while the red and white number looks like a garden-variety B1).

The source of the photos wrote, "They say the drivers are being commanded not to stop by any means, especially when not in Moscow." Somebody should have told the drivers to cover up. Or get an enclosed trailer. You can check out pics of the Marussia B1 and B2 in the gallery below. Hat tip to Filipp!

Canada Crashes the Party: HTT Plèthore to debut in Frankfurt

Even more breaking news from Frankfurt is that our neighbors up north who until now were known for manufacturing GM products(i.e. my first two cars- '93 Firebird Formula with t-tops and '95 Firebird Formula conv't which were both made in Canada) are throwing their hat into the super-car ring!

With all these super-cars set to debut in Frankfurt it is practically a showcase for the best sports cars of 2009 and beyond.

In addition, it does strike a resemblance to one of the first exotics to be born in the USA, the Saleen S7 and the 750hp V8 is also reminscent of one of our favorite products with the "Made in the USA" tag.

For more information check out this great post from one of my favorite auto blogs(as well as other top sports cars):

2010 HTT Plèthore LC 750 - Click above for high-res image gallery courtesy of Stephan Bauer

Besides moose, Mounties and socialized medicine, most Americans know little else about our neighbors to the North. Especially for car people, Canada doesn't register in any significant way unless the Buick LaCrosse comes up. That might change dramatically once the HTT Plèthore LC 750 hits the streets. The brainchild of company principle Luc Chartrand, the Plèthore is a unique supercar that has been at least six years in the making. In fact we covered a previous version of the car when it was shown at the Montreal Auto Show in 2007. Back then it carried the Locus Plèthore nameplate.

Having lost the Locus and gained an LC 750, the production Plèthore features a carbon fiber chassis and body, a 750-hp 6.2-liter V8, a 6-speed manual transmission and McLaren F1-like central driving position, among other things. This Canadian supercar is set to debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show next week, but HTT held a VIP preview of it Tuesday before loading it into a 747 bound for Deutschland. Autoblog friend and ace photographer Stephan Bauer happened to be in attendance and shared some photos and notes with us.

Although the interior still needs work and the pictured vehicle was pretty rough around the edges, this car will be shown in Frankfurt next week. Stephan adds that although similar to some other supercars in its overall shape and details, some of the things that make the Plèthore stand out are its bat-like scissor doors that go well past vertical, its protruding rear diffuser, its tasteful and functional HRE rims and the fact that it is probably the widest car he's ever seen at 89 inches haunch to haunch. That's bigger than the wheelbase on some small cars. HTT told the assembled group that 10 cars have already been pre-sold at a starting price of 395,000 $CDN. For more details, visit the HTT website, and don't forget to check out our live gallery of shots by Monsieur Bauer.

All Hail The Cinque!

Further sticking to the theme of both the best sports cars from Italy as well as that beauty shown above in my template, I bring you the Pagani Zonda Cinque. Thanks to Netcarshow.com here are 30 great pictures of the uber-exclusive Cinque. Why do I say uber-exclusive? Because the name is more than just a cool word, it's Italian for "five" as in only five in existence, which is less of these in the entire world than there are F355's parked outside the local Starbucks(Gone in 60 Seconds reference ;)). Compare that to the 68 lucky owners of brand new 2008 Veyrons and you can see how exclusive this really is.

Then again, as the Cinque is a special edition model it is unfair to compare it to the "mass-produced" Veyron, thus with apples to apples we have the Veyron Pur Sang version which is also limited to just 5 or "cinq" as they say in Bugatti's homeland of France(which will also be discussed in the next "Best Sports Cars of the World" article titled "Europe - Best of the Rest").

So again, a big props to sports car wallpaper provided by Netcarshow.com

And oh yea, did I mention that the Cinque's engine is an AMG sourced 7.3L V12(big shout-out to Germany!) and that this beauty does the 0-60 in a necksnapping 2.0 seconds! Further going to show that the best sports cars are more than just a pretty face, they have attitude as well...

More To Come From Frankfurt - Ferrari 458 Italia

Here's a YouTube video giving us a nice preview of the 458 Italia driving through the streets of Maranello. If you have not had the opportunity to check out the official Ferrari Museum in Maranello please do so!

From the previous post titled Italy - Bold and Beautiful you can see the shot I took of the Enzo was from a trip I took there back in April 2007. I was also fortunate enough to see a few "badged up" cars being road tested, unfortunately at the time my "camera" was using my camcorder in still mode, which took a few seconds to start up which with most of the best sports cars is enough time to miss it. I might however have a video of one of the test cars I caught a glimpse of while I was there so you can see what Maranello has to offer, if I can dig it up I will definitelly post this.

For now, enjoy the 458 Italia, just another one of the best sports cars:

Italy Addendum - Other Italian Sports Cars

As there is just not enough space in the initial post, I wanted to link this great resource for more info about Italian sports car manufacturers as well as some of their most desirable models, which will of course be future topics of discussion here at the best sports cars blog.

http://auto.howstuffworks.com/other-italian-sports-car-manufacturers-channel.htm

In fact, please go ahead and leave a comment, let me know what you'd be interested in seeing here and I will go ahead and post about it. One of the main objectives here is to let you the loyal followers help me to make this the source that you want to go for all your sports car knowledge, please be aware though, that this is moderated so don't go saying "I want to see (insert non-sports car topic)" in addition, please try to keep comments relevant to the post, i.e. if you want to see more about German sports cars please add your comment there.

So with that in mind, comment away about Italian sports cars:
